Apple picks Gemini to power its next-generation Apple Foundation Models
In a joint statement, Apple and Google said the next generation of Apple Foundation Models will be built on Gemini models and Google cloud technology under a multi-year deal. The models will power upcoming Apple Intelligence features, including a revamped Siri, while Apple keeps processing on-device and in Private Cloud Compute. For developers, it shows even the largest platform owners are licensing frontier models rather than training everything in-house.
