Claude Opus 5 nears Fable 5 on coding at roughly half the cost per task

Claude Opus 5 launched at $5/$25 per million tokens, with Anthropic saying it comes close to Fable 5 on coding benchmarks such as CursorBench at about half the cost per task. The model is better at checking and iterating on its own work, and uses safeguards similar to Opus 4.8 rather than Fable 5's tighter restrictions. For developers, it brought near-flagship agentic performance to the standard Opus price.
