Google I/O 2026: Gemini 3.5 Flash outpaces 3.1 Pro and Gemini Omni debuts
At I/O, Google released Gemini 3.5 Flash across the Gemini app, Search AI Mode, Antigravity and the Gemini API, saying it beats Gemini 3.1 Pro on coding and agentic benchmarks while running much faster. Google also introduced Gemini Omni for any-to-any generation and editing, and the Gemini Spark personal agent. For developers, a Flash-tier model outperforming the previous Pro changed the default cost and performance trade-off for agent workloads.
