US export-control order forces Anthropic to pause Fable 5 and Mythos 5 worldwide
The Commerce Department's Bureau of Industry and Security required an export license for any foreign person, including Anthropic's own non-US staff, to access Fable 5 and Mythos 5. Anthropic said it had to disable both models for all customers worldwide to comply, and partial access was restored in late June. For teams depending on frontier APIs, it was a concrete example of export controls applying directly to model access, not just chips.
