MCP gets a neutral home in the Linux Foundation's new Agentic AI Foundation
The Linux Foundation formed the Agentic AI Foundation, with Anthropic's Model Context Protocol, Block's goose and OpenAI's AGENTS.md as its founding projects. Anthropic donated MCP so the protocol would be governed openly by a vendor-neutral foundation with many industry members. For practitioners, it lowered the risk of standardising on MCP for tool and data integrations.
