OpenAI DevDay: apps come to ChatGPT via the Apps SDK, and AgentKit launches
At DevDay, OpenAI introduced apps that run inside ChatGPT conversations, built with a new Apps SDK based on the Model Context Protocol. It also launched AgentKit, which includes a visual Agent Builder, the embeddable ChatKit UI and a connector registry, alongside new evaluation features. For practitioners, it opened ChatGPT's large user base as a distribution channel and confirmed MCP as a cross-vendor integration layer.
